Sharon Read - President/CEO - has been on the Board
since she joined Excel as President and CEO in 2001. A third generation southern
Albertan Sharon has extensive experience working in the health and social service
sectors. Known for her "We can get there!" attitude, she has two adult sons and
skis year round on both water and snow. She has been very active at encouraging
staff involvement in strategic planning and program development.

Brad Perkins - Chair - is a native Edmontonian and
a proud Oilers and Esks fan. He is a graduate of the University of Alberta and a
Certified Management Accountant. Since 1998 he has been working in the tax group
of KPMG's Edmonton Office and has recently been appointed Associate Partner with
KPMG. Brad also acts as the Treasurer on the Board of Directors of the Edmonton
Downtown Business Association.

Chad Langager - Secretary Treasurer - Chad Langager
graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance.
Since 2005, he has been working as the Channel Editor at Investopeda, an online
financial education website. Just recently Chad launched his own online business
– Lean Sumo Creative, offering website design and development, and lean, effective
online marketing. Outside of work, Chad is active in sports including cycling, running
and hockey and is a huge Oilers fan."

Garry Rentz - Director - Garry joined Excel in 2002.
He is a native of Edmonton and is self-employed. His interest in private schools
and adult education, as well as experience in the field of disabilities has brought
depth to the organization. "I chose to serve based on my history in the field and
I see rapid growth in the field of specialized care." Gary is married and has four
children.

Dr. Albert Cook - Director - has recently retired
as Dean of the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine and Chair of the Health Sciences
Council at the University of Alberta. Dr. Cook has worked with interdisciplinary
teams to develop assistive devices and to assess the effectiveness of technology
being used by persons with disabilities. Dr. Cook is also associated with the Assistive
Device Service at the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital. He was formerly Professor
of Biomedical Engineering at California State University, Sacramento where he established
the graduate program in biomedical engineering and directed it for 12 years. He
also served as Co-Director of the Assistive Device Center, helping over 500 persons
with disabilities to identify and obtain assistive technologies.

Mariesa Carbone - Director - After gaining her Charted
Accountant designation, Mariesa worked at a Pricewaterhouse Coopers predecessor
firm, eventually joining their Global Risk Management Solutions area. After leaving
PWC, Mariesa was appointed as the Chief Financial Officer at Weiss Windows &
Doors Inc. Mariesa is currently the Regional Leader of Myers Norris Penny's Enterprise
Risk Services.
Mariesa served on the Board of the Terra Centre, an organization that has provided
a range of support programs and services for teen mothers, young dads and their
children since 1971. In addition to her governance and volunteer experience in our
community, Mariesa will bring a strong background in risk management, business,
accounting, audit and finance.

Lynn Connop - Director - Lynn Connop has 30 years
of experience in the field of working with individuals with complex needs with an
emphasis in the area of Autism and behavioural programming. Ms. Connop is presently
employed with Edmonton Public Schools Kindergarten Inclusive Developmental Services
(KIDS) as a Behavioural Specialist, as well as working as a Program Coordinator
for the GRIT Program assisting is in the development of an intensive home based
program for children who qualify for Specialized Services through Family Support
for Children with Disabilities (FSCD).

Brenda Schmermund - Director - Brenda Schmermund is
Assistant Principal at Bannerman Elementary Junior High School. She has expertise
in the development of Alternative Programs for children and has worked at Tevie
Miller School for the Deaf, Westminster Junior High International Baccalaureate
Program, and currently Nellie Mclung Girls Program. Ms. Schmermund has recently
received her Master’s Degree in Education.

Jeff Dumont - Director - Jeff joins Excel with
impressive credentials. He joined the Auditor General of Alberta as an articling
student and progressed to Manager of Audits. From there he joined KPMG and
progressed to Senior Manager in the auditing division. In 2000 he rejoined the
Auditor Generals office and now serves as Assistant Auditor General since 2007.
Jeff enjoys sports in his off time!
