President's Message

Everyone is entitled to confidence, pride and the ability to dream!

The Excel Society is a social service society supporting and encouraging clients with a broad range of disabilities in Edmonton, Calgary and across Alberta

We offer choices in three key areas, accommodation, vocational training and recreation. Excel's services are all planned and organized, on a personal level.

Funded by Capital Health and Persons with Developmental Disabilities, our work begins with "Person Centred Planning", helping the disabled to determine their needs and wants and to evaluate their options.

Our services help high functioning clients to live independently and to work in the community. In other cases plans are developed to improve necessary life or communication skills, education programs or cooking and meal preparation.

Excel staff assist individuals to gain access to community facilities and services. They help clients to overcome individual and environmental barriers to community integration.

Choices in accommodation range from personal care homes to "Enhanced Designated Assisted Living" facilities. Always with a focus to what is a good fit for the individual and their capabilities.

Clients may receive specialized small business training or Excel finds training/employment opportunities that meet the needs of people with disabilities who are committed to their independence.

At Excel we listen to dreams and try our best to deliver confidence and pride to those who truly need a friendly ear linked to a compassionate and supportive heart.

Excel is a dynamic learning organization focused on people. On behalf of our clients and staff, I encourage you to search our site to learn more about our vision, our values, programs and accomplishments.

Sharon Read
President and CEO.
