Updates & Information

Statement August 17th, 2020

We are pleased to share that the positive COVID-19 outbreak status at Balwin Villa has been lifted. One of the staff that previously tested positive has recovered and the second staff member is on their way to recovery.

We swabbed close to 200 clients and staff and all other results have come back negative. We would like to show our appreciation to the Balwin Villa team for preventing the spread of transmission and ensuring the clients and their co-workers safety.

Statement August 10th, 2020

The Excel Society has over 55 years of experience providing exceptional healthcare in the community to Albertans. We are saddened to learn that two of our staff members at Balwin Villa have been infected with COVID-19. Both individuals are doing well and are in isolation. We wish them both the very best as they work their way back to full health.

At this point, no additional staff or clients from Balwin Villa have tested positive for COVID. More than 176 swabs have been taken for clients and employees. More than 160 results have been returned and all are negative with the exception of the 2 individuals from our team. The remaining results are pending and we expect the results over the next number of days.

We will continue to provide updates as information becomes available.

Visitation Guidelines

Please keep in mind that visitation continues to be by appointment only and we ask that you consider deferring your visitation and/or ensuring visitation takes place in the outdoors until such time as Balwin is declared “all clear” by Public Health. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation
